United Way Announces Campaign Theme And Chairmen

There are many great things in the world that just work as pairs. They can be separate but together are so much better. If you’ve followed the United Way of the Pennyrile on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram accounts, you’ve seen the teaser pictures over the last week and wondered what they have to do with the 2018 theme. Peanut butter is good, but with Jelly, it is better. Same with Laurel and Hardy, Eggs and Bacon, Batman and Robin.  That’s the idea behind this year’s United Way of the Pennyrile Campaign Theme – Dynamic Duos: United Way and You.

As an organization, we are doing great things, but with you, we can be so much better. Last year, our agencies, like PACS Meals on Wheels handed out nearly 90,000 meals, PACS RSVP returned $1.6 million in tax refunds, and Christian County Literacy Council and Imagination Library helped with early education for 13,000 kids. With you, we can increase those numbers. Together, we can reach higher heights and larger goals. Just $5 for every resident in Caldwell, Todd, and Trigg counties would exceed the requests of our agencies serving those counties and just $10 for every resident in Christian County would ensure every agency was fully funded.

President, Annie Catron said “As we considered who would be the best to help us this campaign season, it was a no-brainer that we need a pair that was sure to grab attention and bring with them the fun expected at United Way events. Two people that are great alone, but even better together.” The 2018 Campaign Chairmen are no strangers to the spotlight and often are seen performing together. They even grace the stage in 2016 for the United Way mid-year campaign update. Christian County residents and Hopkinsville Rotarians Chris Gilkey and Russ Guffey are signing on as our very own Dynamic Duo!

As the United Way of the Pennyrile works to meet the needs of residents in Caldwell, Christian, Todd, and Trigg counties, we are always looking for new ways to reach potential donors. This fall we will be rolling out a new website as well as some exciting online giving options and a keyword texting program. The United Way of the Pennyrile helps fund 20 partner agencies and focuses on uniting people and resources to improve the lives and strengthen communities throughout the Pennyrile Region.
